Masonic Charities

The Freemasons Grand Charity

The Masonic Charitable Foundation awards grants to Freemasons and their families in need, continuing the work of the Freemasons Grand Charity.  The Foundation also awards significant grants to charities and non-masonic causes.  It brings together the work of four national charities, namely, The Freemasons Grand Charity, The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, The Masonic Samaritan Fund and the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, which had been operating independently of each other under various names since the early 18th Century.  During their time of operation the four charities each provided a specific type of support to meet various charitable aims in support of freemasons and their families.  Although much of the support provided took the form of financial grants, the charities also operated a number of institutions; The Royal Masonic School for Boys, The Royal Masonic School for Girls, The Royal Masonic Hospital and 17 residential care homes operated by the RMBI Care Company.

The Freemasons' Grand Charity is dedicated to helping people in need and has donated over £100m since 1980.  Each year it provides relief grants to hundreds of individuals who are experiencing financial difficulty and well as donating significant sums to nationwide charitable projects and services.

Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys

The Masonic Charitable Foundation's grants give help to the children and grandchildren of freemasons who are experiencing distress caused by financial hardship. A wider range of support for young people is also available including grants to childrens charities.

The Masonic Samaritan Fund

The Masonic Charitable Foundation awards grants to the RMBI, providing eligible freemasons and their family members with assistance to access the care that they need.

The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution

The Masonic Charitable Foundation provides the full range of grants to meet health and care needs.  The Foundation also awards grants to support vital medical research into a wide range of illnesses and disabilities.
